A very uniquely patterned Coneflower, Echinacea ‘Playful Meadow Mama’ features broad 4″ diameter flowers with quilled tips that open to berry pink with white tips on the petals. As the flowers age they turn to pink and orange shades with expanding white tips. Each flower’s markings vary slightly but all surround large and fragrant deep red center cones. The petals surround a large, contrasting deep red center cone. The petals on this one are more horizontal and arch towards the tips. Butterflies love the flowers, birds love the seeds and the long-lasting flowers are great for cutting and use in flower arrangements. With her large and cheery flowers that come over a long bloom cycle, Playful Meadow Mama will liven up the garden in summer. As with other versions of our North American native coneflowers, this one is an easy-to-grow and a low maintenance hardy perennial that is drought tolerant when established and which deer tend to turn their nose up to.

Playful Meadow Mama Coneflower is an easy to grow and adaptable plant tolerant of drought, heat, humidity and poor soil. It prefers a moist to somewhat dry and well-drained soil of average fertility but will tolerate low fertility soils. Will flower heavier in full sun but also blooms quite well in part shade. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day for best overall performance. Spent flowers can be removed through the long bloom season.
