Description
A prolific bloomer and carefree, the Coral Drift Rose produces an abundance of vibrant double flowers is shades of coral to orange that nearly cover the low mound of foliage in spring, then reblooming in cycles throughout the season. Just as tough and disease resistant as all the others in the Drift Rose series, Coral Drift is excellent for use in the landscape or containers.
The new family of Drift Roses are comparable to the family of Knock Out Roses in disease resistance and low-maintenance, however are much smaller in size. They get their small size from being a cross between full-size groundcover roses and miniature roses. From the former they kept toughness, disease resistance and winter hardiness. From the miniatures, they inherited their well-managed size and repeat-blooming nature.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in a mound 18 to 24 inches tall and 2.5 to 3 feet wide, the Coral Drift Rose is ideal for use as a specimen in small garden spaces or in pots, planters and other containers. In larger landscape spaces, for stunning floral displays and vibrant splashes of color, plant in groupings, mass plantings or as a border along walks and pathways. This is one we don’t hesitate to recommend for use in home foundation plantings.
Suggested Spacing: 2 to 2.5 feet apart for groupings and solid borders; 5 feet or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Drift Roses are exceptionally easy to grow in average, well-drained soils with medium moisture in full sun to part shade. As with all other roses, the Drift roses require morning sun to dry the morning dew from their leaves, which prevents powdery mildew. Some afternoon shade or filtered sun is fine. We suggest 6 hours of direct sunlight per day for best flowering. Drift Roses do not require pruning, however benefit from it. We cut our Drift Roses back to about 4 to 6 inches above the ground before new growth begins to emerge in late winter or very early spring. Plants will quickly flush out and start blooming with the arrival of warmer temperatures in early spring. Deadheading spent flowers is not necessary though will encourage development of new growth and quicker rebloom.

[Buying plants online is always a gamble. You need photos to be informed. Every time I buy a plant I plan to take a photo for the benefit of future buyers] Once again my order arrived in a timely manner and well packaged (see my other reviews for examples of packing). I was shocked to see it already had flowers on it. Bonus! I’m not really a rose person because they seem like a lot of work but I thought I’d give this ground cover rose a try. Very pretty color.—————————————————-Thanks for the photos! Thanks for the kind words and wonderful review! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
